WHAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR
Khuvsgul Lake holds 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and is clear enough to see forty meters down. It sits at the southern edge of the Siberian taiga, ringed by forested mountains and the summer camps of Tsaatan reindeer herders.
This is our easiest expedition — gentle days of kayaking, hiking and lake swimming, with one night in a lakeside sauna and a cold plunge that will reset your soul. The reindeer herder visit is optional, but almost nobody skips it.

Ulaanbaatar → Murun → Khatgal
Morning flight to Murun (included), scenic drive along the lake's southern shore, camp on the beach at Khatgal village.

Khatgal — kayak & beach day
Kayak lessons on calm water, afternoon swim, and a sunset hike up the wooded hill behind camp.

Western shore camp
We cross by boat to the wild western shore and set camp among larch trees. Evening: sauna built over the lake, then the plunge.

Reindeer herders (Tsaatan)
A full day with the Tsaatan — riding reindeer is not on offer, but tea inside their tepee tents and their stories definitely are.

Khoroo island & horse evening
Boat to the sacred island of Khoroo, then an optional evening horse ride with local wranglers along the shore.

Khatgal → Murun → Ulaanbaatar
Leisurely breakfast, drive to Murun airport, afternoon flight back to UB.
