Gobi Desert Expedition

The Gobi is not simply a desert of sand.

It is a landscape of changing colors, enormous horizons, rocky mountains, hidden valleys, ancient fossils, moving dunes, and life that has learned to survive where almost nothing seems to grow.

This 7-day expedition takes you beyond the main roads and into the landscapes that make the Gobi one of Mongolia’s most extraordinary wilderness regions. Along the way, you will explore major natural and historical attractions while spending nights in remote locations away from the crowds.

Your Toyota Land Cruiser 79 becomes your base for the journey. During the day, you take the wheel and navigate Mongolia’s changing terrain. In the evening, set up camp, cook, watch the desert light disappear, and look up at a sky with almost no city lights for hundreds of kilometers.

The route includes some of the Gobi’s most significant landscapes and protected areas, including areas known for their dramatic cliffs, sandstone formations, deep valleys, and enormous dunes. The region is also internationally known for dinosaur discoveries and fossils, connecting the landscape you are driving through with a prehistoric world millions of years old.

This is a real expedition — but not one you have to do alone. Black Yak Adventure provides an experienced expedition team, including a guide, professional drivers, chef, and mechanic throughout the journey.
