Gobi Desert Expedition

Good to know

• Wild camping — most nights are spent away from commercial camps and established tourist facilities.
• No fixed tourist route — we don't follow a rigid sightseeing checklist. Routes are shaped by weather, terrain, road conditions and what the Gobi gives us.
• The Gobi has its own schedule — if a sandstorm sits across our route for three days, we can't negotiate with it. Sometimes the expedition means waiting it out, changing direction, or simply tasting a little yellow Gobi dust in your mouth.
• Weather wins — conditions can change quickly in the desert. A planned route may change because of wind, sand, rain or road conditions. That's part of travelling through a place this wild.
• Dinosaur country — the Gobi became world-famous for producing some of the most important dinosaur fossils ever discovered, including the first scientifically documented dinosaur eggs found in the 1920s. By 2026, however, we still haven't found a living dinosaur. We're still looking.
• Remote country — expect long distances, rough tracks, changing terrain and limited access to towns and services.
• Fuel capacity — each camper carries approximately 120 litres of fuel, with an approximate range of 500 km, depending on terrain and driving conditions.
• Driving briefing — every guest receives a vehicle and safety briefing before departure.
• Professional support — a lead driver operates a separate support vehicle, accompanied by an expedition guide and mechanic.
• Radio communication — vehicles remain connected throughout the expedition.
• Your food, your way — after booking, we ask where you're from, what you eat and what you want to find on your plate. We then build your expedition menu and send it to you before you arrive.
• Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, halal and allergy-related requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
• Camel riding — camel riding is not included in the expedition price and can be arranged separately where available.
• Showers — shower access is planned at each camping setup; the exact shower configuration is subject to the final expedition setup.
• International flights — flights to and from Mongolia are not included.
• Personal purchases — personal shopping and individual expenses are not included.
• This is an expedition — expect dust, rough tracks, long driving days, remote camps, changing plans and a little less certainty than a conventional holiday. That's exactly why we call it an expedition.
