Take the wheel of your own Toyota Land Cruiser 79 camper and travel with a small convoy of up to five vehicles toward Altai Tavan Bogd, the Five Sacred Peaks, Potanin Glacier, Khurgan and Khoton Lakes, and the remote country surrounding them. Drive mountain tracks, cross rivers, climb into high country, camp beside alpine lakes and wake up to landscapes that change with the weather. This is not a fixed sightseeing tour. Drive from Ulaanbaatar through Khentii and the lands connected to Chinggis Khaan, follow the Onon River into Onon-Balj National Park, cross the eastern steppe toward Choibalsan and the great Menen Steppe, then continue to Buir Lake and Khalkhgol — where the landscape carries the memory of one of the most important battles fought in Mongolia. Along the way, camp beside rivers and lakes, cross open steppe, follow remote tracks, meet nomadic families, explore historical sites and spend nights in places where the horizon seems to have no end.
